The Coated VICRYL RAPIDE (polyglactin 910) suture is a sterile, synthetic absorbable surgical suture crafted from a copolymer consisting of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. This suture is designed to mimic the performance characteristics of collagen (surgical gut) sutures, despite being synthetic and absorbable.

The Coated VICRYL RAPIDE synthetic absorbable suture is specifically recommended for superficial soft tissue approximation of the skin and mucosa, where short-term wound support of 7-10 days is sufficient. It is not suitable for use in ligation, ophthalmic, cardiovascular, or neurological surgeries.
