This absorbable, synthetic, monofilament suture is designed for soft tissue approximation, including pediatric cardiovascular applications where growth is anticipated, as well as ophthalmic procedures. It is not suitable for adult cardiovascular, microsurgery, or neural tissue applications. Ideal for scenarios requiring absorbable sutures with prolonged wound support of up to 6 weeks. Common uses include: • Abdominal wall closure • Intestinal anastomoses • Ligament and tendon repair Tensile strength for PDS II suture 3-0 and larger: 2 weeks = 80% 4 weeks = 70% 6 weeks = 60% Tensile strength for PDS II suture 4-0 and smaller: 2 weeks = 60% 4 weeks = 40% 6 weeks = 35% Complete absorption of the PDS II suture occurs within 182-238 days.
